This is probably the best baby gate we’ve purchased (and we’ve had quite a few in the past with three kids). It was very affordable, so we bought three: one for the top of the stairs and one for each of the bottom steps since our staircase splits and goes in two directions. Very sturdy. My daughter, who is now 20 months, cannot figure out how to open it, which is the most important part. It is a little tricky at first to learn how to open it, but within a few tries my husband and I plus our…

UPDATE: Since purchasing, we’ve used the gate daily. We haven’t had it that long (a few months?) and latch no longer automatically closes every time. So if you don’t manually push the lever back, all you need to do is lift the gate to “unlock” it. Thankfully my little one is still too little to figure that out but this definitely will not deter him from the stairs much longer. It would work wonderful for pets or anyone not trying to figure out how to get through but I know I’ll have to come…

Good for blocking for a small child
I bought it to keep my cat from running out of the house but she just jumped over it.
If you need to block a staircase or other space this gate would work for a child. Buy it if you have a child. It’s really the best gate I have seen. But you can’t block a cat!!!!!!

Gate hinge broke 16 months after purchase. Very disappointing. It could have been very d’ange for my daughter. Luckily nothing happened as it broke when we opened it and she wasn’t near the gate. Not sure the warranty covers this but I feel I should be reimbursed. It is a safety concern.

I love the simplicity of this gate. I had to be very careful to align everything properly when installing it. This proved to be a bit of a challenge. Once set up correctly the gate opens and closes smoothly. Our 8 month-old already gave it some test tugging. I’ll update the review once they’re older and are really putting it to the test.

I would have given these gates five stars, as I previously bought one and it was awesome!
HOWEVER, the two new ones I ordered come with different mounting brackets on the non-hinge side that needlessly add moving parts and risk of failure. (They also make it quite a bit more finicky to open and close compared to the older, simpler ones)
I would gladly accept the older brackets if the manufacturer is willing to provide them, as they don’t use a silly spring-loaded release that is sure to fail…

Because of Coronavirus I stay home and found time to install this gate. But honestly, it gives me as equal headache as coronavirus. I tried to find installation guide on youtube, I failed. I can not return this product as the window closed for return on March 25 and today is April 5. I drilled and made holes in the wall and later tried to join them it would take lots of space and felt it is not safe to block the room in case of emergency.
I would appreciate if someone guide me through safe…

We’ve gone through a lot of these gates in the 5 years of us having little ones toddling about. I like that they’re adjustable, and safe for top-of-stair use. What I don’t like is that the hinges and the latches are poorly made and don’t last. Extended warranty is not wasted here, but also keep copies of your receipts handy, as the manufacturer will send you new hardware for the hinges and latches, but they’re insistent that you have proof of purchase.
We also found a spring-loaded arm that’s…

We have two of these for the stairs and have been using them 4 months. We have a preschooler and a toddler, but they are not very rough with the gates. Top of stairs gate is great. Bottom of stairs gate has issues, possibly because the gate is extended wider (but still within range) for the bottom?
Cons:
-Screws and anchors provided for the load bearing hinge are not sufficient in drywall. We did not have studs where needed, so we used provided hardware and it came loose quickly just from…

This is a very nice, solid gate. I docked a star simply because of how difficult it was to install.
The first issue we had was that all the screws were too short to reach the stud.
The second issue was that our stairwell is 43.5” wide; so the widest setting was about 1/4” too wide with the screws all the way screwed in. The second widest was about a 1/4” too narrow with the screws all the way out. The way you have to assemble the gate does not account for unusual widths like our stairwell. We…
