I am giving this only three stars because it allows my son who is two years old to unlock the door. Although he cannot open the door, having the ability to unlock it is also a concern. He can get his little fingers in the opening very easily and unlock the door. Mind you, he just does not do this without reason. He thinks that he is assisting because when we come home we lock the door from the outside with the key. He is not aware of this and proceeds to lock when in actuality he is…

These worked fine as a deterrent when my child was small. Somewhere between 2 and 2.5, though, he figured out he could pull on them with all his weight, and they would come off. (Of course this also resulted in falls.) So there is a point that you may need to add strapping tape/super glue, or resort to a new method.

When you get to that point, here are a few other options that are out of the reach of small hands, and can be opened from either side:
the Door Monkey, which works pretty well for…

Its great for baby proofing the house.
Only drawback being the little hole in the design because of which kids can poke finger to push & lock the door. I had to seal it with a piece of metal and tape from the inside to hide the push lock of the knob.
A design flaw that should be rectified.

Unlike the safety first door knob covers these actually fit over the handles!

I have the Jool Baby knob cover on most of my doors, but needed some more. I wanted to try a new brand, because my back door knob is harder to open and I was hoping this one had larger opening for me to get my fingers in.

This one is really terrible in comparison. It’s much harder to put together, even off the knob. The reason it won’t work for us at all is because the base opening is too small for the “stem” of the door knob. I can just get it on, but then it doesn’t freely spin, which is…

Great fit for my older door knobs. I had to return the Safety 1st black safety covers as it didn’t fit. The main problem with Safety 1st was not the knob cover, but the narrow “neck” at the door end which made it impossible to snap the cover closed. Munchkin would be better if there were more than 2 knob covers. I haven’t had time to see how effective these are with the little guy.

Do you like watching children struggle with puzzles that they have no hope at all of solving?

I do. Oh, boy do I.

That’s why, after I saw my daughter playing in the bathroom sink one morning, I purchased these. Now, instead of breaking into the bathroom and finding my razor blades or the slew of chemical cleaners, I have a frustrated, crying toddler in the pre-dawn hours.

But the fun doesn’t stop there!

I also get to watch my S.O. struggle with opening the door at all hours of the day! With the…

We have been pleased with this product. It does exactly what is advertised and has kept the toddler from accessing the basement and the pantry. Hasn’t scratched handles or doors, and love that an adult can remove as needed.

We have glass door knobs and it can be tricky for the adult, too, if your hands aren’t perfectly dry or you don’t know how to bypass the safety mechanism (as was the case with the babysitter who had to remove them when she couldn’t figure out how to open the door).

    As for…

We hesitated buying these online because we had first tried some covers we bought at Walmart (Safety First brand), and they were too small. Couldn’t fit around our door knobs, and were useless. At least we could easily return those to Walmart. But, still needed covers that fit, and weren’t finding anything different in a local store. So, we took a chance on these and just got one pack to try since returning online can be a pain. No info in the descriptions or reviews helped me feel confident…
